despite i’ve not in my childhood yet, i still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. the tales, which acpany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. this summer i’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. it’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the french author, antoine de st-exupery, the little prince.

as many other fairy-tales, the outline of the little prince is not very plex. “i”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the sahara. in this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the asteroid b612.

the little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. in that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

on his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. from these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the sahara, on the earth.

traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overe with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before.

at that time a fox appears. the fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word “tame”, bees his new friend. at the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. from that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.

i read the chinese version of “camille” a few years ago. at that time i was deeply moved by the main character marguerite gautier. “camille” or “the lady of the camellias” by alexandre dumas, fils, is the story of marguerite gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in paris in the mid 1800s, and how she falls in love with a young man, armand duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a noble woman at heart. when i first began to read the book, i did not care for marguerite or her attitude or lifestyle, but as i got further into the narrative, i realized that her saucy attitude was a front to cover the lonely woman that she really was. she felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentle armand duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person and not for what she could do for him. it must have taken great courage for marguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. and it also showed that marguerite really loved armand duval for she could even change herself for him.

however, happiness didn’t last for long. when m. duval, armands father, came to her, pleading for her to leave armand to save both armands reputation and that of his younger innocent sister, marguerite saw a way to become pure of heart, if not in body. she felt that it was her duty, because she loved armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting armand temporarily. she reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that some day armand would forgive her. sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, julie duprat, who helped her during her illness. she had her journal sent to armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. i think dumass last few lines about marguerite being the exception, not the rule were quite true, and i also agreed with his view that while her lifestyle could not be condoned, we as a society assume that all of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always be the case. a person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, and try to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them from changing their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. this applies to both men and women in many different types of circumstances: involvement in crime; drug or alcohol abuse; gambling; prostitution; financial problems; poor marriage choices; etc. and this is the fact, which exists in the whole society.

as far as the other characters in the book, i think marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted something from her, the only exceptions being armand and julie duprat. of course, the comte de g. and comte de n. wanted her body and appearance. the duke needed to “wake up and smell the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. if he truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifestyle without “keeping” her himself. and lastly, prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used marguerite almost worse than the men. i also think she was jealous of the fact that marguerite had so much more courage than herself and someone truly loved her.

suddenly, i remembered a saying: “women are like the flowers”. those pretty women are like those beautiful flowers; their delicate beauty makes people feel they are the miracle of life. however, even the god envies their beauty. it seems that beautiful women always have tragic endings. as we are normal persons, even we can see the hideousness of humanity that results in their fate of withering, we can at most ask quietly in our hearts: where have those beautiful flowers gone? where have they gone?

希腊神话的众神与中国的不同，他们有着人一样情感，而中国的神仙是不可以有感情的。特别是神仙和凡人发生感情就是犯天条。我国古代的牛郎织女很动人，但结局很凄惨。

这本书让我看到了希腊政治。文化、历史，让我对文学精点产生兴趣，让我受益匪浅。懂得了很多做人的道理。

阅读毛姆的这部世界文学著作《月亮与六便士》，每一次的感觉与收获都不相同。小说中通过主人公查理斯斯特里克兰德先生在中年时期，放弃了稳定的收入、放弃家庭和儿女，走入寻求绘画梦想而坎坷一生的故事，留给我们关于人生与理想、婚姻与爱情、生活与艺术的思考，回味无穷！

首先，我称这部小说是一部“学习鉴赏艺术手册”。

出生在70年代的我们，对艺术的了解知之甚少。每次当我站在美术馆展览的艺术品前，“彷徨”二字油然而生。虽然站的很近，但又是那么的遥远！我仅仅感觉到好看还是不好看，但对它真正的美和创造者想要表达的内容，却不知道应该作何描述和欣赏。我曾向很多人提出过诸如此类的问题，但是一直没有寻找到答案。直到在毛姆的这本小说中，看到了答案：美是一种美妙、奇异的东西，艺术家只有通过灵魂的痛苦折磨才能从宇宙的`混沌中塑造出来。在美被创造出以后，它也不是为了叫每个人都能认出来的。要想认识它，一个人必须重复艺术家经历过的一番冒险。他唱给你的是一个美的旋律，要是想在自己心里重新唱一遍就必须有知识、有敏锐的感觉和想象力。多么一针见血的语言！想要欣赏到艺术的美，我需要学习和积累的还有很多很多。

第一次翻开这本书的简介，当我看到毛姆是以法国画家高更的生平为原型，写下的这部小说时，我找出高更的油画。在没有读这本小说前，看到高更的画，感觉整个视觉是被扭曲的，所有的东西都不成比例，而强烈的颜色冲击着我的视线。他的画有一种原生态的感觉，似乎开天辟地时混沌着。我不知道为什么这样表达意境？难道真实的写实不好吗？

在一次又一次阅读这本小说时候，我才似乎朦胧的理解到高更绘画中所表达的美。精神上的追求如同大自然的美一般魔幻，稍纵即逝，但是抓住即永恒了。

其次，这部小说也堪称“爱情指导手册”。

爱情对于物质极其丰富而精神空虚的现在来讲，受到的考验更为严峻。婚姻无法为爱情保驾护航，有时候反而带来的是加速爱情的消亡。妇人往往把家庭布置的温馨、孩子的得体、照顾好家庭成员的饮食起居作为的首要任务，男人把事业、地位、金钱作为身份的象征。大家却都忽略了爱人之间的精神沟通。毛姆在小说中指导我们“在冲动的热情前面，这种感情是毫无防卫能力的。”

如果做的都是正确的事情，也就不会出现斯特里克兰德夫人在结婚十七年后，才知道斯特里克兰德先生要的是什么；而勃朗什施特略夫就不会被斯特里克兰德先生所抛弃。而恰恰懂得他的是爱玛。没有精美屋舍、没有锦衣玉食，有的只是茅草屋、简单食物，而查理斯斯特里克兰德先生却生活的比什么时候都幸福。请有时间问问自己，做的东西是他/她要的吗？

最后，我把这部小说定义为“理想与生活指导手册”。

在这本小说中，能让我钦佩的不是查理斯斯特里克兰德。虽然每个人选择生活的`方式是自由的，我无需去评论，只能说查理斯斯特里克兰德是一位让我敬佩其坚忍不拔、追求理想的人，但是没有办法尊重的人。而使我真正钦佩的是布吕诺船长。“我在自己的身上也深深感到激励着他的那种渴望。但是他的手段是绘画，我的却是生活。” 布吕诺船长和妻子共同用双手创造出自己的人生理想。

我们都清楚经济基础决定上层建筑，创造好的物质基础，也是想让自己和家人能幸福。只是我们在匆匆忙忙工作中，别忘记曾经小时候的我们也想成为“这个家、那个家”！别忘记自己也曾经想学习的兴趣爱好！别忘记孩子需要我们更多的陪伴、指导，别让他们的精神世界也变成一片沙漠！

it is not charles strickland i admire in this novel. although everyone is free to choose the way they live, i need not comment except to say that charles strickland is a man whose perseverance and pursuit of ideals i admire, but whom i cannot respect. and it was captain bruneau whom i really admired. "i felt in myself the same longing that inspired him. but his method is painting, mine is life." captain bruneau and his wife created their own ideal of life with their hands.
